The De La Salle Food Institute and the College of Science Professional Learning Community on Food Health and Nutrition held their 2nd Research & Development Forum for Food Security on March 1, 2012 at Room 1403 at Br. Andrew Gonzalez Hall.
The De La Salle Food Institute is a consortium between the Institut Polytechnique of LaSalle Beauvais (France) and De La Salle Philippines. The forum aims to share research, innovation and transfer of technology in the different areas of study along the food supply chain.
It was participated and attended by 9 La Salle schools namely: LaSalle Beauvais, De La Salle University, DLS-College of St. Benilde, DLSU-DasmariƱas, DLS Health Science Institute, DLS-Canlubang, De La Salle Lipa, University of St. La Salle Bacolod, and DLS-Araneta University.
Also in attendance are Mr. Christian Merer (Cultural Councilor, Embassy of France), Ms. Julie Blazy (Attache for Scientific Cooperation, Embassy of France), Dr. Philippe Chouquet (Director General, LaSalle Beauvais), and Mr. Philippe Caron (Head of External Relations, LaSalle Beauvais).
Papers presented in the conference were: "Physics Department's Food Research and Technology" by Dr. Gil Nonato S. Santos (Physics), "Profiling Hunger: Initiative Towards Achieving Food Security" by Dr. Rechel G. Arcilla (Mathematics), "Report: The Chemistry Department" by Dr. Marissa G. Noel (Chemistry), "Urban Rooftop Hydroponics for Diversified Agriculture: Pilot Project" by Dr. Jose Santos R. Carandang VI (Biology).
